Gilthunder Build Guide: Best Weapons, Armor & Team Comps — 7DS Origin
Overview & Lore
Gilthunder is an SR-rarity Holy Knight of the Kingdom of Liones, the son of former Grandmaster Zaratras, and a master of the powerful magic known as "Thunderbolt". Although he once pretended to betray the kingdom and sided with Hendrickson to protect the woman he loves, he is a deeply loyal knight who is famously known alongside Howzer and Griamore as one of the "Trio of Troublemakers". In combat, he operates as a fast-paced Lightning-element sub-DPS and burst generator who excels at applying the "Shock" debuff to empower his team.
Best Weapons and Element
Gilthunder exclusively uses the Lightning (Thunder) element across all of his weapon choices, with his playstyle shifting depending on his loadout:
- Longsword (Best for Burst Generation & Synergy): This is his premier sub-DPS weapon. His abilities constantly inflict "Shock" (which deals continuous Lightning damage), and his passive increases the Burst Gauge significantly whenever he hits a Shocked enemy. His Ultimate Move also reduces the enemy's Lightning Burst Resistance by 20%, setting up massive damage windows for your main DPS.
- Lance (Best for Aggressive DPS & Crowd Control): This weapon turns Gilthunder into a high-damage striker. It allows him to inflict "Paralysis" on enemies who are already Shocked, completely incapacitating them and further reducing their Lightning Resistance. His passive also grants a massive 25% damage boost against Paralyzed targets.
- Sword and Shield (Best for Tanking & Defense): If you need survivability, this defensive loadout allows Gilthunder to Taunt enemies and grant Barriers to his entire team. When his specialized Lightning Barrier breaks, it shreds the nearby enemies' Lightning Resistance by 15%.
Best Armor & Costumes
While specific named best-in-slot armor sets are currently marked as "under construction" in the game's database, you should tailor his stats to his role: prioritize Attack and Crit for the Longsword/Lance, or Defense and HP for the Sword and Shield.
To maximize his potential, equip the Costume that best fits your playstyle:
- Holy Knight of Lightning (Best for Longsword/Sub-DPS): Activating a Burst increases the enemy's Shock duration by up to 10 seconds and massively restores the Tag Gauge (up to 2000), allowing you to keep up an aggressive team rotation.
- Exemplary Holy Knight (Best for Lance/DPS): Every hit increases his Lightning damage by up to 32% for 10 seconds, making him a devastating sustained attacker.
- Exemplary Adventure (Best for Sword and Shield): When hit by a Taunted enemy, he has a chance to drastically reduce his Normal Skill cooldown and boost all allied heroes' Defense by up to 30%.
Best Team Compositions
Gilthunder shines brightest when enabling other Lightning characters or completing specific achievement milestones.
- The Optimal Lightning Team: Drake (Main DPS), Gilthunder (Sub-DPS), Slater (Support/Debuffer), Hendrickson (Healer/Support). In this setup, Gilthunder acts as the primary "Shock" applicator and Burst builder. He sets up the elemental weaknesses and fills the gauge so that Drake can swap in and unleash his massive burst damage.
- The "Troublemaker" Achievement Team: Howzer, Gilthunder, and Griamore. Running these three characters together is essential for maxing out their Shared Mastery efficiently, which is required to unlock the Trio of Troublemakers Gold Trophy.
Key Playstyle Tips
- Always Maintain Shock: Gilthunder's kit heavily rewards attacking enemies afflicted by the "Shock" status effect. Whether it is generating bonus Burst Gauge with the Longsword or applying Paralysis with the Lance, always ensure the enemy is Shocked before dumping your hardest-hitting cooldowns.
- Master the Burst Setup: As a Lightning Sub-DPS, your main job is to trigger the Lightning Burst and shred the enemy's resistances. Use his Longsword's Lightning Flash Ultimate Move to decrease the enemy's Lightning Burst Resistance right before swapping to your main carry.
- Charge His Adventure Skill: Outside of combat, Gilthunder's Adventure Skill allows him to greatly fill an object's Lightning gauge. The efficiency of this skill is based on the charge level, making it crucial for solving open-world environmental puzzles scattered across Britannia.
